The corporate reorganization and bankruptcy area of our law firm has experience in private corporate reorganizations, bankruptcy proceedings and corporate liquidations, as well as private agreements with creditors and the acquisition and sale of debt involved in insolvency of bankruptcy proceedings (creditos concursales). Our lawyers complement their practice with vast professional experience, offering our clients coherent and innovative solutions; combining financial, bankruptcy, corporate, banking, tax and labor regulations for comprehensive solutions.

Regarding financial reorganization proceedings, our practice includes counseling on bankruptcy proceedings before the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and Protection of Intellectual Property (INDECOPI), as well as private proceedings where INDECOPI is not involved. Our practice is aimed towards counseling debtors and creditors in the reorganization process of liabilities of distressed companies. This is done through accurate and satisfactory counseling, emphasizing such solutions to the nature of the corporate crisis involved.

Furthermore, our corporate reorganization area designs crisis buyout strategies for the acquisition and trade of such corporations, as well as portfolio acquisition, credit recovery, total and partial liability assignments and productive units. In this regard, our lawyers have the ability to work not only with the current bankruptcy regulations, but also with corporate and financial regulations, achieving complete and comprehensive solutions for our clients.

Our law firm has experience on issues such as creditors meeting agreement impeachments, acknowledgment of credits and impeachment of such credits.

It is worth mentioning that several mandatory administrative precedents (Precedentes de Observancia Obligatoria) before INDECOPI regarding bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings, under which INDECOPI has issued verdict on, have been motivated by the legal defense strategy of our lawyers.

Finally, our area has constantly counseled corporations and banks that require our expertise on incidental matters regarding reorganization of assets and liquidation of bankrupt corporations, cooperating with such clients through specific and prompt assistance in operations where the counsel of experts is required.

During the past decade, Alberto Rebaza and Rafael Alcázar have earned their reputation as two of the most prestigious Peruvian financial lawyers. They are widely recognized in both the Peruvian and foreign markets for the vast experience they have availed through their involvement in many of the largest transactions taken forth in Perú.

The degree of expertise and experience achieved throughout these years, as well as their interest in building a modern organization together with a highly coherent professional team led them in 2004 to establish Rebaza & Alcázar Abogados Financieros, Perú’s first financial oriented law office.

In August 2006, Gonzalo De Las Casas along with his team of lawyers over the past ten years, joined Rebaza & Alcazar Abogados Financieros (now Rebaza, Alcázar & De Las Casas Abogados Financieros). Gonzalo and his team are the leading Peruvian law practitioners in the areas of restructuring, insolvency and acquisition of distressed assets. The incorporation of the De Las Casas team enhanced the expertise of the firm in such areas and consolidated a strategic growth for the law firm, given that it will now be able to embrace all aspects of financial legal services.

Some of the most prestigious international publications related to legal services —including Chambers and Partners, Latin Lawyer, Latin Counsel, Who’s Who Legal, IFLR 1000, GCLR 100— have referred to the high professional qualifications of these experts and have ranked them as Perú’s “most highly recommended” in the fields of Mergers and Acquisitions, Capital Markets, Banking and Finance, Privatizations and Concessions, Corporate Conflict Resolution, as well as Competition and Antitrust.

Revered head of department Gonzalo De Las Casas is described by sources as “the most experienced name in this field.” They go on to note: “He has an excellent reputation in the market and is most certainly a star individual.”
