Bertie joined Ashurst’s Singapore office in September 2014, and is part of the restructuring and insolvency practice.

Bertie’s practice focuses on cross-border financing, restructuring, and investment transactions in Asia. He has worked in Asia for 20 years and represents creditors, debtors, controllers, rescue financiers and others in many forms of financial and restructuring transactions across Asia.

His recent work has focused on debt restructuring, special situation and similar transactions. Bertie also has extensive experience representing investors in syndicated loans, FRNS, convertible or exchangeable bonds, sovereign financings, and sale and leaseback transactions. Creditor clients include senior, mezzanine and junior loan or bondholder groups, white knight financiers and others. Debtor-side client include major Asian companies, family controllers and common and preferred shareholders. Bertie is widely recognised as one of the leading restructuring and finance attorneys in Singapore and Indonesia.

Our restructuring, insolvency and special situations group advises on the full spectrum of issues that arise from corporate distress, distressed investing and formal insolvencies. We have extensive experience advising all types of stakeholders in distressed situations: lenders, debtors, potential purchasers and insolvency officeholders.
